The trailer for ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ , the dream project of Kollywood, was unveiled yesterday. At a grand event in Chennai, Superstar Rajini Kanth and Universal Hero Kamal Hassan have unveiled the trailer of this magnum opus. Rana Daggubati has given the voice over to the telugu version trailer.
The three-minute trailer depicts the labour that Mani Ratnam and his team put into this project for years. Every frame looks rich and authentic. The glimpse gives us a peek into the life of the Chola, one of the richest and most courageous Dravidian kingdoms. The viewer’s curiosity increased sharply as this little glance covered the politics of power, war, love, retaliation, and tragedy. Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Sharat Kumar, Jai Ram, and Prakash Raj play the lead roles. Enchanting evergreen ladies Trisha and Aishwarya Rai will appear as female leads. The marks of art direction and cinematography are visible in every frame of the trailer. Aishwarya Rai gazes at the imposing throne as the interesting teaser comes to a close.
Ponniyin Selvan: I’ (PS-1) is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel, “Ponniyin Selvan,” which briefly tells the story of the most powerful Chola king, Arulmozhi Varma, who later evolved into Raja Raja Chola. Many Kollywood actors and directors tried to make this film. Even MGR made an attempt to take this film to the floors, but it was held down for numerous reasons. Legendary director Mani Ratnam has been working for a long time to make this picture. Finally, in 2019, he collaborated with Lyca Productions to begin work on the film. They have officially announced that this epic period drama will be released in 2 installments but the shooting was halted twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but finally the first film from this film series will hit the screens on September 30, 2022.
This film is co-written by Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel, and B. Jeyamohan. It is directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. AR Rahman has composed the music for the film. This film will be released on September 30 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages.
