Roshan, son of Rajeev Kanakala and Suma, makes his debut as a hero in the film ‘Bubblegum’. Directed by Ravikanth Perepu, the film gained interest due to the involvement of celebrities like Chiranjeevi, Rajamouli, and Venkatesh in the promotional events. Story

Adi (Roshan Kanakala), a young man from Hyderabad, dreams of becoming a DJ. One day at a pub, he falls in love with Janvi (Manasa Chowdary). Janvi, a girl from a wealthy family, doesn’t care much for love or relationships and sees boys as toys. Unexpected circumstances lead her to fall in love with Adi. How did Adi and Janvi, with their different mindsets, face challenges? Did they end up together? That forms the rest of the story.

Performance

As a debutant hero, Roshan Kanakala impresses. He fits well into the role of a Hyderabadi youngster, excelling in looks, acting, and dialogue delivery. Heroine Manasa Chowdary scores good marks with her performance, especially in romantic scenes. Chaitu Jonnalagadda, in the father’s role, entertains with his comic timing. Harshavardhan and Anu Hasan performed well within the scope of their roles.

Direction

Director Ravikanth Perepu targeted the youth with this film. However, the story and narration feel routine. Except for the interval and climax scenes, the rest of the story feels like something seen in many other films. The director impressively handles the romantic scenes between Janu and Adi. The interval scenes create interest with their double meaning. The director presented the climax differently from past love stories, ending the film with a good message for the youth.

Technically

On the technical front, the ‘Jilebi’ song in the movie is good. Sri Charan Pakala’s background music is catchy, though it dominates in some scenes. Suresh Ragutu’s cinematography is rich, and the production values are high.
