Samantha Ruth Prabhu is one of the leading actresses in Tollywood. Despite taking a break from films due to health issues, Samantha remains constantly in the news. Her latest web series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny‘ is set to stream on OTT platforms from November 7. A trailer related to this series was recently released, in which Samantha dazzled everyone with her performance. She matched the action sequences with heroes in a way that captivated all viewers, bringing her name once again into the trending spotlight. It is reported that Samantha has received a significant remuneration for this series.
How much was the remuneration?
Samantha and Varun Dhawan played the lead roles in the web series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny.’ Samantha portrayed the character of Honey while Varun Dhawan played Bunny. This is the first time Samantha will appear in a spy role in her career. She molded herself significantly for this and even took special training for the action sequences. It is reported that she received a huge remuneration for the Citadel web series, around Rs. 10 crores, according to Bollywood circles. For comparison, it was rumored that she received Rs. 5 crores for the film ‘Kushi‘ with Vijay Devarakonda. This suggests that her payment for the series was double. Currently, Samantha’s remuneration is considered higher compared to many actors and actresses in Telugu cinema.
The series with Samantha’s craze at its peak!
Samantha previously starred in the web series ‘Family Man 2,’ which streamed in 2021 and was directed by Raj and DK. In this series, she received widespread acclaim for her performance, especially in action sequences, which was a first in her career. Her portrayal of negative shades was particularly well received by the Bollywood audience. Interestingly, the directors of ‘Family Man 2’ are also directing ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny.’ According to the trailer, the character of Honey seems to feature even more action than the character of Raji in the previous series. The series is set to stream on Amazon Prime on November 7 and will be available in over 240 countries.
I am still a bad actress: Samantha
In a recent interview, Samantha reflected on her journey. She recalled her first film audition during ‘Ye Maaya Chesave‘ and noted how different it was from her audition for ‘Citadel.’ In this web series, she had to act badly on purpose, and she performed well because she considers herself still partly a bad actress. “If I say I did my best, it doesn’t mean the credit is all mine. The best in us only comes out when we are in the hands of the right team,” Samantha explained.
The highlight of the series!
During the trailer launch of ‘Citadel,’ Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan made some interesting remarks. He mentioned that the climax of the series is on another level. “Samantha and I worked tirelessly for an action scene that lasts 11 minutes. We shot it in a single take without cuts. This scene will appear in the climax and will definitely add to the suspense,” said Varun. This has greatly heightened the expectations among fans. Discussions are already underway about the impact ‘Citadel’ will make in India.
