Sunrisers speed gun Umran Malik had a glorious IPL season. The 22-year-old bagged numerous records to his name in the 2022 IPL season. Umran took 22 wickets in 14 matches with a 5 wicket haul. His breathtaking pace bowling over 150+ kmph has put the battars on the back foot. Umran was called up for the national team for the upcoming t20 series against South Africa at home soil.
Many cricket greats have praised Umran’s breathtaking performances. Recently, one of the game’s legends and present BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, has admired Umran’s bowling skills. Speaking about Umran, he said, “I hope Umran maintains his present level of fitness in the long run, as it would be beneficial to him and our team. I’m hoping he’ll continue to play for our national team for a long time.” He also added that Umran’s glorious future is in his own hands.
Sourav Ganguly also praised Rahul Tewatia, Tilak Verma and Rahul Tripathi who also had a phenomenal IPL season along with Umran Malik. Umran’s outstanding performances have earned him a place in the national team for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa. The five-match T20 series between India and South Africa starts on June 9. The final squad has been announced by the BCCI. Senior players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were rested for this series. Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Sigh also named in the squad along with the rookie Umran Malik. KL Rahul will be the captain and Rishabh Pant will be the vice-captain.
