The Telugu film producer guild has gathered for a meeting to discuss the current financial crisis of Telugu film industry. All the worrying concerns of the film industry like ticket prices, OTT platforms, Actor remunerations and cost of making are discussed in this session.
Special treatment for Top Six actors
Since the movie industry is going through a difficult time and producers are likely to insist that actors and actresses accept pay cuts, the five-member group is currently engaged in extensive discussions about actor compensation. However, these requirements might not be relevant to Tollywood’s top six actors and directors. A dependable source claims that the producers don’t want to get involved with the pay scales of the top six stars, which include Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, NTR, Mahesh Babu, and Pawan Kalyan. These actors were probably given special treatment in terms of compensation.
Producers to target Tier-2 heroes
The producers’ guild’s main targets are Tier-2 actors like Nani, Ravi Teja, Sai Dharam Tej, Varun Tej, and Naga Chaitanya. Currently, Nani and Sai Dharam Tej each receive 15 and 8 crores, while Ravi Teja receives 18 crores. But in the post-pandemic period, the box office performance of this actor’s films is nothing short of a catastrophe. The producers and distributors of these films have incurred significant losses. They are likely to severely cut back because the producers are now burdened by their remuneration.
The producers can’t demand the top six heroes to reduce their remuneration because all top producers are making films with all top actors. Producers always play it safe with these hero movies because of their star power. Furthermore, regulations and expectations have no bearing on these stars because each producer has unique goals and a unique relationship with the actor. Additionally, renowned filmmakers like Rajamouli and Trivikram are likely to be included in this special category.
Let’s see how the guild comes up with a solution to fix the current situation.
