To coincide with Independence Day, several major films were released on August 15. However, this week, there are no releases from star heroes. Instead, smaller films are set to entertain you. Additionally, several movies and series are gearing up for release on OTT platforms. Let’s take a look at what’s in store.

Theatrical Releases

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam

The film Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam stars Rao Ramesh in the lead role. Directed by Lakshman Karya, the movie features Indraja, Ankit Koya, and Ramya Pasupuleti in key roles. The filming of this movie has already been completed, and it is set to hit theaters on August 23. The filmmakers describe it as “the story of a middle-aged, unemployed man from the middle class.”

Demonte Colony 2

‘Demonte Colony 2,’ a Tamil film starring Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar, is directed by Ajay R. Gnanamuthu. The film is produced by Vijay Subramaniam and R.C. Rajkumar. This movie, which was released in Tamil on August 15 and has been successfully running, will be released in Telugu on August 23. The makers have stated that the film offers the experience of watching a good horror thriller.

OTT Releases

Kalki 2898 AD

The movie ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ starring Prabhas, is arriving on OTT platforms this week. This blockbuster movie will be released on two major OTT platforms. Starting August 22, it will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix. On Amazon Prime, the movie will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, while on Netflix, only the Hindi version will be available. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film has grossed over ₹1200 crores worldwide. The cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in key roles.

Raayan

The film ‘Raayan’, directed by Dhanush, is an action thriller that recently hit theaters and received positive reviews, earning significant collections. This week, it is set to entertain OTT audiences. Starting August 23, it will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime. Tollywood actor Sundeep Kishan plays a key role in the film, alongside Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, S.J. Suryah, and Saravanan in other roles.
