The dark fantasy horror thriller ‘Bramayugam‘, directed by Rahul Sadasivan and starring Malayalam megastar Mammootty, has already garnered good talk in Malayalam and was released today in the Telugu states by Sitara Entertainments. Arjun Ashokan, Siddharth Bharathan, and Amalda Liz played pivotal roles. Having been a hit in Malayalam, did the film manage to impress Telugu audiences as well? Let’s delve in.

    Plot

Thevan (Arjun Ashokan) is a talented singer who, along with his friend, ventures into a forest and ends up at a dilapidated mansion. The mansion is inhabited only by a cook (Siddharth Bharathan) and the landlord, Kudumon Potti (Mammootty). The landlord warmly welcomes the visitor. Amidst some dramatic events, Thevan decides to flee from the mansion. Despite his efforts, he fails to escape. Why did Thevan want to escape? Who is Kudumon Potti? What is he doing in the abandoned mansion? Did Thevan manage to escape or not? That’s the story.

    Performance Analysis

Mammootty, the Malayalam megastar, showcased a splendid performance in the film. As Kudumon Potti, he delivered an exceptional performance in the mysterious role, living the character of a malevolent being who uses dark power. His body language and attitude were distinctly unique. Arjun Ashokan as Thevan and Siddharth Bharathan as the cook have given commendable performances, competing with each other on screen. Each actor proved their mettle with their respective roles.

    Direction Quality

From the beginning, ‘Bramayugam‘ is intense and full of energy. Missing the opening might make it difficult for the audience to connect with the story. Director Rahul Sadasivan’s screenplay is captivating. The way he has portrayed the cheating game among the three main characters is quite interesting. The second half, especially after the extinguishing of the eternal flame, unfolds events that are both emotional and horrifying. The way the director has carried the movie till the last frame is a testament to Rahul Sadasivan’s talent.

    Technically

On the technical front, music and cinematography are the main strengths of ‘Bramayugam’. The background score by the musicians elevates the scenes to a higher level, complementing the actors’ performances. Cinematographer Shehanad Jalal shot the entire film in black and white, making every frame stunning and giving the audience a unique experience. The sound design is also noteworthy. The production values have significantly contributed to elevating the film’s quality.
