‘Virata Pravam’ collections appear to be dull; it has grossed between 7 and 8 crores worldwide, with the film’s breakeven point estimated to be around 14 crores. Because the film is based on the Naxalite issue of 1990, many young people may not relate to it, and many people will avoid serious movies like this, especially if it is about the Naxalite movement. Actually, we believe the film did well given the subject matter and the fact that it was delayed for many years before its release, and we attribute this to Sai Pallavi’s performance.
The rest of the film’s production team should be commended for aggressively promoting it, including visits to Warangal and Vishakapatnam, as well as releasing news about the film and visiting the family on whose story it is based. All of this contributed to the success of the film, but we believe it would have been more effective if done earlier.
