The people’s hero, Sonu Sood, has just crossed 12 million followers on Twitter. This versatile actor joins the list of very few Indian celebrities to reach this figure on Twitter. Sood became the demigod of the poor during the Corona lockdown. His work as a humanitarian during the lockdown will forever be in our hearts. He arranged transport for migrant workers who were stranded in the middle of nowhere due to the lockdown. He arranged buses, trains, and chartered flights to send the migrant workers to their hometowns.
For 1500 students stranded in Kyrgyzstan, Sonu Sood organised a special fight to bring them home. He provided oxygen cylinders to COVID-infected people during the second wave. Sonu has founded the Sood Charity Foundation, a non-profit organization that aids the poor. During the lockdown, he launched Pravasi Rojgar, a smartphone application to assist migratory workers in finding suitable jobs. The Punjab government named him the “State Icon of Punjab” in recognition of his humanitarian efforts. Sonu’s charity, in addition to assisting the needy, also assists underprivileged students by giving free UPSC coaching programmes. His NGO is offering free academic help to poor law students through a campaign named Sankalp. In numerous campaigns, he worked with a number of non-governmental organizations. He was named Delhi state’s brand ambassador and received the SDG special humanitarian action award for his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the lockdown, he was praised as a true Indian hero by the entire country.
In 2020, he released “I Am No Messiah,” an autobiography in which he narrates his life. With his philanthropic activities, this fictional villain made a larger impact on the Indian public than anyone else. He carved out a particular niche for himself among India’s underprivileged.
