Previously, a movie’s success was not just measured by its collections but also by how many days it ran in theaters. In the past, many hit films used to run for 50 days, 100 days, and some even celebrated 200 days functions. During the era of actors like Ramarao and Nageswararao, there were instances where movies were shown for a whole year. However, in the current OTT era, this situation has disappeared. Even films that collect hundreds of crores at the box office are moving to OTT within a month. Therefore, the talk of movies running for 50 days or 100 days is almost non-existent in the industry. However, Tarak’s latest film ‘Devara’ has broken this silence. Let’s see how.
Devara… The Half Century
Directed by Koratala Siva and starring Tarak, the Pan-India film ‘Devara‘ was released worldwide on September 27 and has claimed success. The film grossed ₹500 crores at the box office. Recently, Devara achieved a milestone by being shown in 52 centers for 50 days (Devara 50 Days in 52 Centers). The makers released posters detailing this accomplishment, listing the theaters in the Ceded, Uttarandhra, Krishna, Nizam, East, West, Guntur, and Nellore areas that completed 50 days. It’s special that ‘Devara’ managed a half-century in theaters even though it’s available on OTT. Tarak’s fans are proudly raising their collars seeing this.
Trending on OTT as Well
After creating a tsunami of collections at the box office, ‘Devara’ was recently brought to streaming by Netflix. From November 8, it has been available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and other South Indian languages. Shortly after its release, ‘Devara’ trended nationally on Netflix, and it continues to draw significant streaming minutes, a record for a Tarak film. Even a week into its OTT release, ‘Devara’ remains in the top 10, with many who have seen the movie rewatching it.
Soon on Sets ‘NTR 31’
It’s known that Tarak (Jr NTR) will be making a film with Kannada star director Prashanth Neel. The movie, tentatively titled NTR 31, is set to be a periodic action drama. The pre-production work is going on vigorously, promising a new level of characterization and performance from Tarak compared to his previous films. Plans are underway to start shooting as soon as pre-production is complete. Currently, Tarak is busy with the film ‘War 2’, a Bollywood movie starring Hrithik Roshan, in which Tarak will play a role with negative shades.
Tarak’s Movie with Rajini’s Director?
There’s a strong buzz that Tarak will be making a movie with Tamil star director Nelson Dileep Kumar. Discussions related to the story have already taken place, and Tarak has reportedly responded positively to the script. An official announcement about this project is expected soon. Nelson Dileep Kumar recently directed ‘Jailer’, securing a solid hit with Rajinikanth in a powerful role. Currently busy with ‘Jailer 2’, Nelson may commence the Tarak project after that.
