Natural Star Nani: Indirect Warning to ‘Pushpa 2’ Team?

Prominent directors and producers in Tollywood are adopting a new trend by announcing release dates even before the completion of movie shootings. Due to delays and other issues during production, they often have to quickly announce new dates if they fail to release on the initially promised date. This practice of locking dates in advance for big-budget movies is reportedly causing issues for smaller films and tier-2 heroes. Natural Star Nani has responded strongly to this issue, which has become a hot topic in the industry.

‘That attitude is not correct’

It is natural for films to be postponed. Reasons such as adjustments of actor dates, VFX delays, and other shooting delays often lead to postponements. However, the frequency of delays has increased recently. Nani has made fiery comments about the practice of announcing release dates without certainty and then postponing them. During promotions for “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram,” he addressed this issue, stating, “Announcing a release date without clarity harms many. We should set a date only if the movie is ready; otherwise, we should wait. This attitude of announcing a date and then changing it isn’t right.” These comments have sparked significant discussion within Tollywood, with both industry insiders and netizens supporting Nani’s views.

Warning to ‘Pushpa 2’ Team?

Nani did not specifically mention any film in his latest comments, but industry circles are discussing that he was referring to the ‘Pushpa 2’ team. Reportedly, Nani’s “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” was initially targeted for an August 15 release at the beginning of its production. However, since Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ had already locked that date, the “Saripodhaa” team had to reschedule for late August (August 29). Unexpectedly, the ‘Pushpa 2’ team moved their release to December 6, releasing a special poster to announce it. This shift allowed other films like “Double iSmart,” “Mr. Bachchan,” “Thangalaan,” and “Aay” to move their schedules to August 15. Considering this, Nani had to bring his film on August 29. The timing of ‘Pushpa 2’ locking August 15 initially led to the loss of a long weekend for “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram,” prompting speculation that Nani’s comments were an indirect warning to them.

Run Time Fixed for Nani’s Movie!

Nani’s latest film “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram,” directed by Vivek Athreya, is set to release on Thursday, August 29. Priyanka Arul Mohan stars as the heroine. The film has recently completed its censor formalities and has reportedly received a U/A certification. S.J. Suryah, who plays the villain, revealed that the runtime has been fixed at 2 hours and 50 minutes. This follows the earlier Nani-Vivek Athreya collaboration “Ante Sundaraniki,” which also had a runtime of around three hours.
