Umran Malik Stole the Show but Gujarat Titans Clinched the Win
Umran Malik, the speedster from Jammu, is enjoying a fantastic IPL season. Umran became a nightmare for opposition batsmen, bowling at speeds of above 150 km/h aided by jaw-dropping yorkers. Last night, against the table-toppers Gujarat Titans, the speedster recorded his first five-wicket haul in the IPL. 4 out of 5 wickets were the clean bowled’s. His back-to-back exciting performances wowed cricket fans from all over the world.
Sunrises Hyderabad are defending a 195-run target. The target seemed to be good enough for SRH initially, but Gujarat Titans got off to a fast start with openers W. Saha and S. Gill. Gujarat got a stellar start with a total of 69, which was set by their fiery openers. The Titans appeared to be dangerously at ease on the pitch, which alarmed the SRH camp. The SRH bowling team failed to replicate their previous success, taking no wickets in the opening seven overs. They are in need of wickets.
Then came the speed gun, Umran Malik.
Subhuman Gill, Wicket No. 1:
SRH is in severe need of wickets. Umran Malik was unlocked from his vault by Kane Williamson. Umran gave his captain exactly what he needed. He gave the big break with his brace, Umran clean bowled the set batsman, Subhuman Gill, with his breathtaking yorker on the third delivery of his first over. The ball was speeding at 144 kilometers per hour. The SRH camp gained some momentum after Gill’s wicket.
Hardik Pandya, Wicket No. 2:
Hardik Pandya was brought in to replace Gill in the crease. Umran smacked the Pandya brother with a powerful bouncer. Spectators could easily estimate the ball’s speed because the sound of the collision was so distinct. Pandya’s shoulder was injured as he got a taste of Umran’s deadly bowling. In his next over, Umran got Pandya. Pandya attempted a pull shot with a short ball from Umran but got a top edge. The ball flew over the keeper’s head and into the hands of fine third man Marco Jensen. SRH took two crucial wickets of Titans, both from Umran Malik.
W. Saha, Wicket No. 3:
The Titans scored 121-2 in 13 overs. W.Saha smashed a brilliant 50 in 28 balls. He and his South African partner, David Miller, appeared to be highly dangerous. To get back into the game, SRH must break this partnership. Williamson, Umran Malik’s captain, brought him to the attack. Bhooom! Umran clean bowled Saha with a thunderbolt yorker that clocked in at over 153kph! That was a lot of fun. The moment appeared to be a replay of Gill’s wicket. With his lightning-fast yorker, Umran once again provided SRH with a much-needed wicket.
David Miller, Wicket No. 4:
Malik was bought into attack in the 16th over of the match, SRH needed a perfect last over from speedster, and guess what, he didn’t disappoint the SRH supports. In his fifth delivery of the 16th over, he clean bowled the dangerous miller with another high yorker. Gujarat Titain’s supporters were speechless, and they simply left as if they have been watching Subhuman Gill’s wicket repeatedly. It’s like a Dejavu for the Titan’s supporters and players! Gujarat batsmen understood that Umran is not a bowler they wanna mess with.
Abhinav Manohar, Wicket No. 5:
Is it possible for Umran to add the cherry on top of his incredible spell? This is the sole question among SRH fans, as Umran has already led his team to the brink of victory. Flash! The young man attacked the poor stumps once again this time the victim is the rookie Abhinav Manohar. Malik’s terrifying performance drew a standing ovation from the entire arena. Speed, Attack the Stumps, Repeat this was Umran’s only slogan throughout the tournament. What a Fast Fast Superfast bowler SRH is gifted with! With his first-ever five-wicket haul, the speedster bought an end to his spell. His bowling figures were 4-0-25-5.
SRH was unable to defeat the Gujarat Titans despite Umran’s outstanding bowling effort. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan completed by successfully chasing down the mammoth 23 runs in the last over, with Rashid Khan hitting Jensen’s over (the innings’ final over) for three massive sixes. With 0 balls remaining, Gujarat Titans won by 5 wickets. With this win, the Titans returned to the top spot and SRH remains at 3rd place in the points table.
