Kavya Maran, the gracious owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad reminded one of that famous song by the Beatles, “Here comes the sun”, with her presence at the IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad Director Tom Moody and bowling mentor Muttiah Muralitharan. The online world was all abuzz searching for information about Maran the thirty-year-old daughter of media baron Kalanithi Maran who is also playing a role in SUN Music and the FM channels of SUN TV.
Her family is quite well known with her father being the grandnephew of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Her uncle Dayanidhi Maran is an MP from Chennai Central. Her popularity on account of her appearing at the auction is quite remarkable given the fact that Shahrukh Khan’s children, Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan were also present at the auction.
That is the thing about online media. Your pedigree and family name may get you some attention, but eventually, it is how you present yourself that creates a connection with people. Maran certainly has that and this was evident even at last year’s auction, where her name had trended on social media proving that her popularity is no flash in the pan. Truly, there is so much more than cricket to look forward to when it comes to the hoopla surrounding IPL!
