A tweet by the Bahubali movie maker SS Rajamouli requesting his fans and followers to contribute to a fund-raiser dedicated to blood cancer patient Devika, who had worked as a post-production coordinator for the movie maker angered many on account of the seemingly stingy attitude of someone so rich.
He was subject to vicious trolling by many questioning his inability to step up to the plate and help a former colleague, instead of issuing an appeal to his fans and followers. However, the stalwart filmmaker received staunch support from Balakrishna who had recently featured the former, as a guest on his show Unstoppable.
Balakrishna had mentioned Rajmouli’s secret donation to his Basavatarakam Cancer Hospitals, as proof of the fact that the iconic filmmaker had his heart in the right place. The video of the show was used by Rajmouli fans to vociferously defend the filmmaker suggesting that he may have already helped Devika and the Twitter appeal was merely to add more money to the fundraiser.
That there might be some truth in that assertion is borne out by the fact that the fundraiser description mentions that Devika managed to raise Rs. 40 lacs from employers and family.
